5 Things that you should put in your 2020 CV

At first, trying to catch recruiters’eyes or hiring manager is the document that they use to decide whether the job is fit or not. Therefore, every candidate might want it to be the best it can be instead of appearing unpleasant, look messy, outdated or hard to read. Therefore, here are the best advice for how to create a CV Version of 2020 that will stand out from the crowd and land you that interview.

1. Keep it simple & use summary statement

  • Use clear section heading and make them stand out with bold type, capital letters or a different color.
  • Make sure there’s plenty of white space. (Be cautious that overstuffed CV is hard to read).
  • Using a summary statement (e.g. “Seeking a senior level of regulatory affair position in healthcare industry”) that tells the recruiter what you want and what kind of value you can bring.

2. Put your recent work experience first. Break it down and most important thing is to remember to put your work achievements in each position of your career history.

  • The recent work experience tends to be the very first thing that recruiters pay attention to when they are looking for a potential candidate. 
  • For each job, list out your job responsibilities and accomplishments.

3. Job- Hopping & Gaps

  • Job hopping can show a candidate’s reluctant. It tends to make recruiters doubted whether or not this candidate is moving forward into a new role and that candidate will stick to the new company for a long time and not hop again.
  • A candidate should also be aware of unexplained gaps in your CV. Generally, recruiters do not mind the gaps as long as there is a sufficient explanation in the CV.

4. Spotlight Key Skills

  • This is the one of the key part in your CV that will show if a person is qualified for that opening position. Most recruiters will look for specific skills such as engineer, IT or healthcare or life-science positions. Therefore, read the job description carefully to see which skill, programs and keywords are mentioned. If there is a requirement or responsibility listed in the job description that you have performed in a recent or previous role. It should be in your CV.

5. Number Games

  • Try to put the numbers and results wherever possible in your CV. It shows that how many target amount that you hit and/or how big was your team, how often did you perform a specific task or how many people use your products. etc. It shows that the impact that you have made in your recent an previous roles.
