How to hire a IT professional

IT professionals are in high demand due to changing circumstances around the world and the importance of IT cannot be underestimated. There are several jobs that fall under the IT umbrella and some of them have tasks are overlapping each other. Because of this, you need to hire a knowledgeable, capable and forward-thinking specialist.

  1. Be sure of what you are looking for

Making sure that what goals does the organisation want to achieve? What is the primary role and what are those requirements? What they will be in the near future? Each of these “big pictures” questions can help you to figure out to hire a college student with less formal experience may be a great financial choice but you may need an experience specialist who has encountered similar situations in the past.

  1. Don’t assume that a single person can do it all

It is not realistic to expect a new hire to have all the information and a firm grasp of all of the tools necessary from their first day.

  1. Know the difference between talent and skill

Good IT specialist cannot just be technical. They need to understand to full spectrum. Businesses often hire individuals because they are skilled in a particular tool or technology but they may not understand the core procedures and processes. Focus to find someone who understands how and why breaches happen and best practices for preventing or responding to them. Don’t focus on whether they are certified in your brand of firewall.

  1. Look at experience in addition to certifications

Certification can demonstrate a baseline level of knowledge but they are not a replacement for experience. Do not post the job or let human resource specialist post it  with a laundry list of required skills and certifications.

  1. Never skip the background/reference check

The candidate who fills this position will have access to your company’s most sensitive data processes so be as sure as possible they can be trusted with it.
